Grace!

I have been reading Phillip Yancey's book, Whats so Amazing abou Grace, and quite frankly I am amazed at the comments, questions and ideas that are mentioned by this phenominal writer. Grace......the more I say it the more I want to know what it is. But, can we really define this word or concept called Grace? We can tell stories of Jesus and our lives to exeplify Grace but can we truly do it justice by giving it a definition with our finite minds? I will leave that answer for you to dwell on. Grace.....a word, one single word that is so important within Christianity. The one ting tht Christianity has to offer that i different from every other religions offered within the world. Yet, there has been very few sermons spoken to the church body about what Grace is. To understand Grace you can look all around you in the world of "ungrace" and have an idea of what Grace is by its polar opposite. You can look at the story of the Prodigal Son and understand a complex idea such as Grace. In tis example, Luke 15, talks about a son who demands his inheritance before its due time, within this culture, that wasthe equivalent of saying, I wish you were dead, can I have my share. This hurt his father but did as his son wanted. After making bad decisions with his inheritance money, blowing it on things that he could have done without, he then was soon broke, all his inheritance was gone. He then returned home. This is where Grace is seen, his father sees his son coming from a far disance and runs tosee his son in the fields. First off, a person within this culture and within this class would not normally run but wak in a noble and authoritative way, but, the father was so excited to see his son return he layed eerything aside and ran towards his son. Second, during his sons apology speech, his father interrupts him and starts to celebrate his return. This my friends......is what Grace is. Such a marvelous and beautiful concept that is understood by first knowing what forgiveness is.

Be blessed and walk in Gods forgiveness and Grace!

Out of the Silence

Well, I don't know if all of ya'll knew this or not but, my CD player has been unable to work for the last five months. Something happened to it and I had to type in the security code in order to make it work again. Well, I bought my car used and it didn't have a manual to tell me this valuable piece of info. So, I just considered it a sign as to sit in the silence for a little while and just hear God and talk to him while I was driving. Man, was that season hard for me. If you don't know me very well then let me explain-I am a music freak, I have about 200 CDs and I am known as the "music man" at my job because if anyone comes in looking for an artist or a song, I can tell you about it. So, anyway, I finally did some manual labor to my car(no pun intended) and found the serial # to my CD player, called up the dealership and am now out of the Silence. For those of you who don't understand the poetic language, My CD player is fixed! Haleluiah!!

Sacrifice of the Flesh

2 Samuel 6:12-16 states, 12And it was told King David, The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the City of David with rejoicing; 13And when those who bore the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling. 14And David danced before the Lord with all his might, clad in a linen ephod [a priest's upper garment]. 15So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet. 16As the ark of the Lord came into the City of David, Michal, Saul's daughter [David's wife], looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, and she despised him in her heart.

The first thing I want to look at is in verse 13 when David and the army take 6 steps and then sacrifice an ox. The number 6 is the number of man. David did not want any part of man to be transporting the Ark of the Lord so every time he took six steps, he would sacrifice in order to kill the "flesh". According to a book that I just finished reading, it is about 13 Kilometers to go from Obed-edom to Jerusalum. This means that if they sacrificed every 6 steps, they killed over 3,000 oxen. Talk about dedication and will-power. Then, with all of the blood in the streets and the incredibly bad smell from the sacrificing, David danced before the Lord in his Ephod. He didn't care about the smell, or getting covered in animal blood, He was overwhelmed with praise and emotion that he just danced. When we learn to scarifice our flesh and continually have a Godly mindset, we also, may be filled with the spirit ina way that david was. All I know is, we sure fo have a lot to learn from the example of David.
